Yes – we like positive reviews

One of our pilot partners has taken the initiative time to write a review of CMP on his blog at ccTLD. We think there is no better way to start a week-end than by reading a positive review of Commercial Microportals as parking platform. Thx, Theo – we’ll do our best to create value for you in the time to come!

CMP in 30 seconds

CMP is not the regular everyday parking service. It is a parking-service combined with a CMS that is also combined with a search engine. Together they make the CMP-platform a good platform to develop many domains on, as you do not have to add any content yourself. It will be found, and published , by the CMP-system automatically. Our target has been to make it possible to set up a complete domain in 5- 10 minutes, and never have to touch it again. It must manage it self, and grow by it self.

We base the system around 10-50 keywords about the subject your site is about. Every day we search the web for these keywords with our own search engine. We do not use results from Google, Bing or another search engine, this only gives us the same resuls as anyone can get. And that is not the professional way of doing things.

We want content ,content that matches the subject of the website. Content from proper channels, not spam. We want content that only we have. This is why we use our own search engine. And we weight the quality of the content we find, and measure it properly. If we find it to our liking, we keep it. So we control the search engine, and we control what parts of the text we extract for the sites we host on the CMP system. This process goes on all the time, and content is added in a controlled manner. Not too fast, and not to slow. Just like a manually edited website.

We are still in a pre-release status, but if you have many domains and you are interested, please contact us. At the moment our focus is to polish the details, and provide excellent service to our pilot partners.

CMP numbers

Much attention is being paid to Frank Schilling’s new parking service in the domaining community these days. If we understand InternetTraffic right it’s a simple parking platform for domains but the cut given to domainers is much bigger than what the old-school parking companies offer. We’ve also read on Rick’s blog that domainers are reporting 40-50% increase in revenue compared to what they are used to getting. From what we gather InternetTraffic is also primarily intended for domains with type-in traffic. Other than this we don’t know much about the service, except lots of domainers are putting lots of domains in to give it a try.

CMP is not a parking platform. And it’s a not a domain development platform. It’s something in between. It’s a platform where you do have to invest some time (15-20 minutes per domain on average) but only once. The result is a thematically focussed, well-indexed and useful web site relevant to your domain. Consider Cheap Down Parkas – a very niche domain/site with almost no type-in traffic but with good traffic (750 visitors a week – in the winter time). With more than 2300 domains on our platform we’re getting numbers which you may find interesting too. We mostly monetise with Google AdSense (not only does it provide acceptable revenue, we also think of the AdSense ads as good and relevant content for our visitors). On the average our sites get:

  • More then 3% CTR
  • eCPM of more than $20
  • $30+ revenue per year
  • (in addition there is the value of having a real site for your domain with a search engine history instead of a parking page which is mostly not even indexed)

Not only do we think it means our concept work, we also think it means our sites are perceived as useful by visitors, especially visitors who are out for inspiration and our to research products before buying.

Some domains will be really good earners with the CMP platform. Some will earn nothing. Our aim is first and foremost to help domainers cut cost. We figure that if you’re a domainer who can cut the cost of the yearly domain fees down to zero you’re also a domainer who in principle can buy and hold as many domains as you like.

CMP signs deal to develop 8000+ domain names into microportals

Commercial Microportals just signed our first major deal with a big portfolio domainer. Over the next 12 months he will set up 8000 or more English language domains with the CMP platform. This is a big step for us but after having run nearly 2000 domains on the platform for a while we now feel confident it is ready to go big.

This contract not only means more income but also a move in the direction of modelling our platform into something that is more like a publishing system for domains than a parking service, a bit like WordPress but without having to install software and all that mess. With CMP, setting up a microportal is still just 10-20 minutes per domain.

Under the terms of the agreement (and for the time being), we’re not at liberty to reveal who the customer is.

We’re looking for more pilot partners, get in touch with gard@ commercialmicroportals .com if you have domains you’re like to monetise better and give more value during the time it’s in your portfolio.

Building a CMP-network with Twitter

We’re building a Twitter network for ourselves at @Better_parking. Our strategy is to follow as many interesting people in the domaining community as possible and see what will come of it. As you will discover if taking a look at our feed we already came across several good blogs and interesting conferences during the last few days. Hopefully we’ll find some ideal pilot partners for our platform as well.

Going for a review in iGoldRush

In our quest to find more pilot partners for our platform we just reached out to iGoldrush.com asking them to publish the following text in their guide to parking services:

We take domain parking one step further, letting you create a meaningful thematic portal for your domain with just 20 minutes of easy input. Domainers can also use their preferred advertising partner. With Commercial Microportals, domainers can expect to recover the yearly fee for most domains plus make them more valuable since they will be useful, relevant, thematic web sites.
